More than anywhere else in Australia, Tasmanians enjoy a
temperate, maritime climate with four distinctly different seasons.
Our winds (noted to be the cleanest air in the world) and mountain ranges produce different
weather regions across the state.
Mountain ranges down the West Coast catch moist west winds, resulting in a rainfall that
supports the huge areas of temperate rainforest and wilderness areas in the South West region and
along the West Coast stretching inland to the Cradle Valley and Central Highland regions.
Near the centre of the island we have a high plateau area dotted with hundreds of lakes. Heading East
from the highlands across the drier central Midlands area we move onto the East Coast where the climate
is drier and warmer.
Lemonthyme is situated in the Cradle Valley region. The turn off from the Cradle
Mountain road to the Lodge is just 5 kilometres from the Moina (Moinna)junction. The Lodge enjoys a
beautiful temperate highland climate. |
